Led and directed by Dr Marisa López-Teijón and Dr Leonardo Marquès Amorós, Institut Marquès has centres in Spain, Ireland, Italy and Kuwait. With a history spanning over 90 years, the centre bears the name of Dr Vicens Marquès i Bertrán, the first in a great line of gynaecologists.

Institut Marquès gets its name from a family whose members have come together in union and stability. Its founder was Dr Vicens Marquès i Bertrán (Barcelona, 1895-1977), who started to practise as a gynaecologist in 1922, over 90 years ago. Over the years, his vocation as a gynaecologist has been passed down through four generations, from his son, Dr Leonardo Marquès Giraut, to his grandson, Dr Leonardo Marquès Amorós, and finally to his great-grandson, Dr Borja Marquès López-Teijón.
